How I Thrive: Love Wellness Founder Lauren Bosworth

How I Thrive takes an inside look at founders, entrepreneurs and leaders and the behind-the-scenes self-care work they do to in order to live balanced, happy lives. Today's edition is with Love Wellness founder Lauren Bosworth, who prioritizes baths and is a chef on the side.

Name: Lauren Bosworth

Age: 33

City: New York, NY

Company: Love Wellness, the leading female-first wellness company focused on total body care that offers better-for-you products like targeted and effective nutritional support, personal care products, and supplements to help women tackle issues like gut health, stress, sex, and skincare.

Role: Founder & CEO

Beyond the role: I love to cook. Prior to starting Love Wellness, I went to culinary school!

Morning routine:

My alarm usually goes off at 7 a.m. I open my blinds to let some morning light in and help wake myself up a bit. I heard that getting this dose of sunlight first thing in the morning helps boost your mood and vitamin D production. After I finally roll out of bed, I head to the kitchen to grab my ice roller and gua sha from the freezer. This helps wake my face up and is great for lymphatic drainage.

Then I start making my coffee. I haven’t always been a coffee drinker, but recently I’ve found I really love a simple cup of black pour over coffee to start the day. After that, it's vitamin time! I usually take my Love Wellness vitamins with my coffee. Metabolove, Sparkle Fiber, and Good Girl Probiotics are the ones I will start my day with typically.

Next I do my skincare routine, which is all about "less is more" — but I always wash my face in the morning, use my favorite Dr. Dennis Gross Stress Rescue Super Serum, use a lightweight moisturizer, and my daily SPF. Coola is one of my favorite brands for sunscreen and their 360 Sun Silk Drops are amazing. Some days I work out in the morning before I go to the office and other days I work out after. If I'm planning to work out after, I'll wear my workout clothes to the office to hold myself accountable! I usually get to the office around 9 a.m.

The first thing I do after work:

Some days after work I'll take a class at SLT. If not, I'll head home to start unwinding for the next day.

Dinner ritual:

I'll usually eat dinner at around 7 p.m. During the week, I typically stay in and make a healthy dinner like roast chicken and vegetables. On weekends I love to go out with friends and try new spots around the city.

Nighttime routine:

After dinner, I love to take a bath. Taking baths has always been my favorite way to unwind. I’ll light candles and throw in some Dr. Teal’s Epsom Salt and let myself relax for just a bit. It seriously helps me get in the right headspace for sleep. Speaking of headspace, I try as much as possible to do a 10-minute meditation on the Headspace app. After that, I’ll do my skincare routine and brush my teeth, then hop in bed and watch an episode of TV before going to sleep around 10 p.m.

Self-care guilty pleasure:

Netflix! Honestly, sometimes you just need to binge watch a TV series and let your brain relax.

Work day self-care hack:

Letting myself take little breaks! Even if it’s a walk around the block or chatting with my team about things that are not related to work, it seriously helps my productivity! I will typically work straight through for a few hours and then take a solid 30-minute break and repeat. The breaks are essential!

How I define self-care:

It’s about being both calm and energized, satisfied and craving new experiences. Self-care isn't a trend — it's feeling good about feeling good, without feeling ashamed of taking time to yourself!

Favorite childhood hobby or toy:

My favorite childhood toy was my cooking set! I’ve always loved being in the kitchen so if I wasn’t actually helping my mom and dad cook, I would play with my pretend version.

State of your (email) inbox:

I definitely try my best to have a zero inbox — some days are harder than others. I try to skim my emails throughout the day and if it’s something I need to return to I will mark it as unread. I also like to use different labels to help keep things organized. As far as a to-do list, my Google calendar dictates my day. No matter how big or small the task, I'll add it to my calendar — that includes breaks!
